Legacy of a Godly Lady

Gramma will always be the Proverbs 31 Woman to me. She taught me so much about how to love my husband, love my children and most important, to love Jesus. Gramma was the definition of a prayer warrior. She prayed for her family, friends, church, leaders, country, missionaries and ministries by name every day. She taught me how to pray for my family. Her prayers were sincere and filled with gratitude, always the most beautiful, heartfelt petitions.

Gramma loved recalling information and could not only tell you the names of everyone's children, she could tell you their birthdays and delightful memories along with them. Gramma was an amazing cook and could make any meal a special feast, even pizza or sandwiches had a special "Gramma" touch when served at her table. Gramma was a wealth of knowledge when it came to healthy eating, home remedies, and nutritional supplements. She faithfully took care of Pawpaw and all of us with her healthy foods and vitamins. Gramma was proud to be an American. Our forefathers and the men who sacrificed for this country meant so much to her. She would cry tears of gratitude when she would talk about how our country was founded and the blood shed for our freedom. Gramma loved beautiful things. If she received a pretty card, she would read it over and over, sometimes she would cut out the flowers and tape them onto things around her to further admire their beauty. Gramma loved to do crossword puzzles. She could tell you the answers quicker than most people can even read the clue, she could also figure out the Wheel of Fortune phrases faster than anyone in the family on most occasions.

Gramma was an avid reader, I always loved talking to her about her favorite books and devotionals. She has her own little mini-library. She wrote everything down. Thoughts, prayer requests, song lyrics, poems, messages from sermons. Gramma loved sending and receiving letters and cards, she penned thousands of letters and many poems. Gramma did not see herself the way everyone else sees her, as a beautiful and strong woman of God. She would tell me, "oh honey, we all have feet of clay." There are no words to express how grateful I am to have sat at her feet and our family will continue to glean from her as we read her profound writings and share memories.
I am so thankful to have had her little great-granddaughter, KK, born on the "Birthday Queen's" birthday. Gramma always said KK was the best birthday gift she ever received.

Gentle, kind, pure, reverent, loving, joyous, strong, wise, persevering, patriotic, and lovely. Gramma will forever be a beautiful lady with a beautiful heart and a beautiful mind.

a part of us.”
